Will Byington is a Chicago-based freelance photographer with more than 20 years of experience capturing the people, places, and moments that tell a story. Known for seeing what others miss, Will has built a career around finding fresh perspectives, whether he’s photographing a packed concert, a quiet moment backstage, an iconic Chicago landmark, or an unexpected detail halfway around the world.

Since 2007, Will has served as an official photographer for Sixthman, documenting more than 150 music festivals at sea and photographing hundreds of artists along the way. His work has taken him around the world and put him in the middle of unforgettable performances, once-in-a-lifetime collaborations, and the candid moments that happen when artists and fans come together in a completely unique environment. He continues to photograph Sixthman events today.

Will’s love of Chicago has also played a major role in his work. He has spent years photographing the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field, documenting the ballpark, its fans, and the traditions surrounding one of baseball’s most iconic teams. That work culminated in WE ARE CUBS FANS, a photography book celebrating the people and passion that make Cubs fandom so special.

His longtime relationship with Bill Murray began through more than a decade photographing the annual Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament and has continued through additional projects and events, including his current work photographing Bill Murray & His Blood Brothers.

Will’s event and travel photography has also taken him across the country and around the world. He continues to photograph events for ALG Vacations, capturing destinations, experiences, and the travel industry professionals who bring them to life.

Before establishing himself as a full-time photographer, Will worked in entertainment and promotions, including time with the rock band Cowboy Mouth and in Beverly Hills film promotions. Over the course of his career, his camera has captured everyone from presidents and politicians to Hollywood legends, professional athletes, and some of the biggest names in music.

No matter the subject, Will approaches photography with the same goal: to go beyond simply documenting what happened and create images that make people feel like they were there. His ability to connect with people, anticipate moments, and find a perspective others might overlook has become the hallmark of his work.

For Will, the best photographs aren’t just the obvious moments. They’re the ones happening around the edges, the fleeting expressions, unexpected angles, and small details that tell the bigger story.
